Hello friends, we are half way through fall, and the project/crafting bug has hit! I’d like to show you my Ikea Cart Makeover project. I purchased an Ikea Raskog cart a few weeks back, because I needed some storage for all of my Cricut supplies. Unfortunately, there is not an Ikea store nearby, so the only cart I could order online was an antique white color.
If I left the cart this color, it would be a little too much antique white.
Not to worry, because I was a girl with a plan! I went to Target, and bought two 12oz. cans of Devine Color, Glossy Color (by Valspar) spray paint in Devine Raspberry. It’s a paint and primer all in one! I’ll admit, I wasn’t a perfectionist, while painting. There were a few drips, and I probably should have let it dry for a whole week before using it at all. I waited an hour each time I painted, before turning the cart over to the next side.
It’s a bit of a strong paint, so make sure you have a well ventilated space. The smell, however, was like pink Bubble Gum! I didn’t mind at all! 😉 I used one full can, and almost all of the second one. The color is gorgeous!
It was still a little tacky, even after drying overnight. I didn’t mind, though-I can get a little impatient/excited-I was so pleased with it! I wasn’t done yet! After all, this was a Cricut supply cart, so it needed some words, cut out by my Cricut, of course!
Voila! I used the Nursery Rhyme font in bold, cut out of black vinyl. My cart was now complete! Look how it pops next to my desk!
I love it! I’m thinking of buying another one for the other side of my desk. We’ll see. Now to organize that desk a little better. That’s another project, for another time. Hope you enjoyed my Ikea Cart Makeover, in which I took a plain white cart, spray painted it a bright pink, and added some words, to get my new Cricut Supply Cart!
Have a great weekend, and enjoy those fall colors!
