Hello Friends! It’s December 1st – welcome to the Christmas season! I wanted to do something new, so each month, I will be offering a free printable to anyone who subscribes to my blog. I will also start giving away a free gift each month to one of my subscribers. This month will be a helpful Holiday Gift Planner.
I enjoy getting creative and useful gifts for the people on my list. It can seem overwhelming, though. I like to get some information before I start shopping. It would be so easy if my family/friends would just tell me exactly what they wanted, but often it’s more like 20 Questions.
First I take into consideration what stage of life my family member/friend is in. Are they young, old, or in between? Are they a student, a newlywed, a new parent, empty nester, or grandparent? Are they moving out of Mom and Dad’s into an apartment, or buying a new house? Maybe they’re upsizing or downsizing? Once I have that information in place, then I like to ask some questions. Do they have any immediate needs? Maybe they’re decorating a room, or redecorating their house or apartment. Do they have a collection they want to add to, or what are their hobbies and interests? Is there something you and that family member/friend enjoy doing together?
My goal is to be intentional when I buy a gift for someone. The last thing I want to do, is buy them something just to buy them something. My husband and I are trying to downsize – keeping only the things we really love. I try to keep that in mind when Christmas shopping – I don’t want to spend my time and money on something that a family member/friend doesn’t need, like, or can’t use, and will likely throw or give away.
I’m hoping this Holiday Gift Planner will help you be more intentional, and have more fun, while doing your Christmas shopping this year. Enjoy!
